A close-up of our tech team
Meet Simon, Dina & Robbin
What does a typical day look like?
-
We have a longer planning meeting within the backend-team on Mondays where we go through the work that each person will focus on that week. The remaining days we have a shorter stand-up where the focus is more on if you need help/input from the team with the task that you are working on. Otherwise we try to keep the days as free from meetings as possible, so that each person can have as much focused work time as possible.

A typical day for me usually begins with a morning stand-up session with my manager. During this meeting, we discuss the day’s priorities and brainstorm approaches to tackle the challenges at hand. If I have an ongoing task that takes multiple days, we use the stand-up as a sounding board for ideas and guidance. Throughout the rest of the day, if there are no scheduled meetings, I primarily write code in Python, review code on GitHub, analyze data, and troubleshoot error messages.

I really believe in the product that we are building

What's the best part of working as a developer/data scientist at SAVR?
Simon, Senior Software Engineer:
"I like that the work is technically challenging and that the type of task can really change from week to week, which has made me develop as a programmer. At the same time I really believe in the product that we are building, which is a very important part of course!"
Dina, Data Scientist:
"I enjoy the freedom to explore tools and models for complex problems. The fast pace is exhilarating, turning ideas into solutions within a week. I appreciate the genuine recognition I receive from my colleagues. They understand the value of data, data science, and AI, and the crucial role it plays in our fintech startup’s success. Such recognition makes each accomplishment even more fulfilling."
Robbin, Senior Software Engineer:
"That we dare to try new things and challenge the product and the market. Also that decisions that have been taken may be re-evaluated if we realize that there are better alternative solutions. I think the fact that we use Elm is a plus, even though it has a small community, the language is very robust, which makes it feel safe to develop new things and refactor existing code."
